This program supports projects that accelerate the transition to clean energy, reduce carbon emissions, and build climate resilience in developing and emerging economies. Eligible projects include solar power generation, wind energy, small hydropower, biogas, energy efficiency retrofitting, and climate adaptation infrastructure.

  • Solar PV and concentrated solar power systems
  • Wind energy projects (on- and offshore)
  • Small-scale hydropower and mini-grids
  • Biogas and biomass energy production
  • Energy efficiency retrofitting in public buildings
  • Climate-resilient infrastructure and disaster preparedness
Applicant Requirements
  • Legally registered for at least 1 year
  • Project located in a MDF partner country
  • Technical feasibility study available
  • Clear environmental impact assessment plan
  • ATIAA accreditation (or willingness to obtain)
  • Matching contribution of at least 10% encouraged

What We Do Not Fund

Political parties, electoral campaigns, or government lobbying activities
Military, defence, weapons, or security sector projects
Fossil fuel infrastructure (coal, oil, gas exploration or generation)
Religious worship infrastructure or proselytising activities
Personal debt repayment, individual scholarships, or staff salaries only
Speculative financial instruments, cryptocurrency, or capital market activities
